This is a Kohler Model 800 E 21 Emergency Plant, serial number 47347 made in January 1941. It produces 800
Watts of 115 Volt, 60 Cycle ( Hertz ) electrical power and weighs 250 pounds. It has an auto start feature using a 16
Volt battery. ( I plan to try a 12 Volt battery.) It also has a battery charging output.
The engine is a single cylender, air cooled Briggs and Stratton Model B with a automatic choke and carboureter heater,
mechanical fuel pump and crank start option. The engine runs at 1800 RPM, half that of comparable modern units. This
unit predates later models which used a Kohler K series engine.
The plant was purchased by Jan Yoder at a farm auction in Martinsburg, W. Virginia in 2003. I acquired it form Jan
in March 2004. Some day I plan to dissemble, clean, paint and repair the plant to restore it as close to original running
condition as possible.
